Saving their change and donating the money to Heifer is one of our children and youth’s favorite projects. Since 1944, Heifer International has helped more than 12 million families in more than 125 countries move toward greater self-reliance by giving them a source of food rather than short term relief. Heifer’s strategy to “pass on the gift” means that as people’s animals have offspring one is passed onto another family thereby expanding the network of hope, dignity, and self-reliance. Last year, with the help of the congregation, our children and youth were able to provide a llama, sheep, chicks, goslings, ducks and rabbits for distribution by Heifer.
