Rev. L. Patrick Ricker

Pat was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Rockville, MD.  He received his BA in Psychology from the University of Maryland in 1970 and his M.Div. from Wesley Theological Seminary in 1973.  He served the Piney Plains Charge from 1972 – 73 as a student pastor.  His first full time assignment involved developing a new congregation in Crofton, MD.  He had the privilege of being the founding pastor of Community UMC in Crofton and remained there until he was assigned to Ferndale UMC in 1986.  During that time period Pat completed an MS in Counseling Psychology from Loyola of Baltimore and became part of the counseling staff at Washington County Hospital (now named Meritus Medical Center) in Hagerstown, MD.  Pat was connected with John Wesley UMC as a Minister of Visitation for 14 years before being appointed Senior Pastor on January 1, 2014.  Pat and his wife Lauri have been active in many different capacities at John Wesley UMC through the years.  They have six children and two granddaughters. Pat is also a member of a popular three-member bluegrass band, Fertile Soil,” which performs locally. He sings and plays bass guitar and acoustic bass.
